2. Inclusion of biodiversity in priorities and plans
Some inclusion achieved
The 11th Development Plan includes decisions about the detection, registration, conservation, sustainable use, development, monitoring and prevention of smuggling of biological diversity and genetic resources. NBSAP (2008-2017) has been updated. NBSAP (2008-2017) with new working schedule entried into force with Minister of Agriculture and Forestry approval together with NBAP (2018-2028) including recent action plans based on country’s biodiversity politics. The National Biodiversity Coordination Council is established for effective implementation of related Aichi Targets with national targets.
3. Assessment and/or evaluation of values
  • Comprehensive assessments undertaken
The National Biodiversity Inventory and Monitoring Project was prepared and launched between 2013 to 2019 for the purpose of preserving our biological richness. Biodiversity data from all provinces of Turkey are collected in Noah's Ark National Biodiversity Database. Additionally, the General Directorate of Nature Conservation and National Parks carries out the following projects; - The National Biodiversity Inventory and Monitoring Project - The Project on Registration of Traditional Knowledge Associated with Biodiversity - Technical Assistance for Strengthening the National Nature Protection System for Implementation of Natura 2000 Requirements - Addressing Invasive Alien Species Threats at Key Marine Biodiversity Areas GEF VI Project - Conservation and Sustainable Management of Turkey’s Steppe Ecosystem Project - Addressing of Invasive Alien Species Threats in Terrestrial Areas and Inland Waters in Turkey.
