1. International financial resource flows

1.1 Please indicate the amount of resources provided by your country in support of biodiversity in developing countries, in particular least developed countries and small island developing States, as well as countries with economies in transition.

Please indicate, as appropriate, the nominal amount of financial resources provided by source as well as the total amount. Please also indicate your degree of confidence in the estimated amount or, alternatively, provide a range of estimates.

Data are based on information from the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency. All data in the table derives from published sources. In projects and programmes the Rio marker for biodiversity is used as an indicator. Directly related indicates initiatives where the principal objective is to promote biodiversity and/or ecosystem services. Indirectly related refers to interventions where a significant objective is to promote biodiversity and/or ecosystem services. Due to a change in methodology we have revised the data about the indirect related contributions. The coefficient used for resource flows indirectly related to biodiversity is now 40%. The division between directly and indirectly contributions 2010, are as follows: Directly related: 118 727 075 SEK Indirectly related: 415869826 SEK Total: 534596901 SEK. 2. Inclusion of biodiversity in priorities and plans
Some inclusion achieved
The Swedish Policy for Global Development has eight main features, of which one - sustainable use of natural resources and protection of the environment - is particularly relevant to the articles of the CBD. Sweden has for a long time been working proactively to incorporate biodiversity aspects within bilateral, regional and global programmes focused on natural resource management (Agriculture, forestry, rural development, management of marine/coastal systems, transboundary waters management etc). Sweden has made efforts to integrate the objectives of the CBD throughout its work since the convention was ratified. Sweden supports a large number of initiatives that are classified with the Rio marker on biodiversity and contributes to CBD`s Aichi targets. It includes support through multilaterals such as UNEP and FAO, regional development banks, government institutions such as ministries and national universities, hybrid organisations like the IUCN that has both government and NGOs as members, major environment think tanks, and society based initiatives.
4.Reporting current domestic biodiversity expenditures

Government budgets – central
Yes
Data are based on information from the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency, the Swedish Agency for Marine and Water Management, the Swedish Board of Agriculture and the Swedish Forest Agency. Appropriations (from the Government central budget) that directly and mainly concern biodiversity have been taken as a whole. Appropriations that directly but only partly concern biodiversity have been calculated on the basis of assessed proportions. Expenditures indirectly related to biodiversity are not included.
5. Reporting funding needs, gaps, and priorities

Please indicate your annual estimated funding need (for instance, based on your revised NBSAP) and calculate the estimated funding gap by subtracting estimated available resources. Indicate actions for priority funding.

Please start with the year which is most appropriate for your own planning purposes.

6. National finance plans
Please provide a brief synthesis of your finance plan, by indicating, in the table below, your planned resource mobilization, by source, and their respective planned contributions towards your identified finance gap.
